Macaroni Thai Basil Pork

Everyone spends a lots of time at home especially works from home (WFH) which became a new normal for office workers now. Some found a new hobby or even learn some skill that they did not imagine that they would before Covid-19.

So I would like to take this opportunity to share my WFH food edition with you. Suddenly, It turns out to be one of my favorite dishes to cook.

It is called Macaroni Thai Basil Pork which is a fusion of Thai and Italian. This menu was accidentally found because I forgot to buy rice and I just have macaroni left in my pantry so why not! Surprisingly, It turns out to be a very good combination.

Thai pork basil stir fried in Thai is called Pad-Kha-Proaw. It is one of the well-known Thai dishes around the world and a common food for Thai people, from street food to high-end restaurant.

Here, I would like to share the recipe and how to make Macaroni Thai Basil Pork. Feel free to try it out. Also, if anyone of you did, you can share your feedback in the comments below.

WFH food edition - Macaroni Thai basil (pork)


  • Minced pork 500g.
  • Macaroni 300g.
  • Thai Basil
  • Egg
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tbs Olive Oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 5 Chillis
  • 1 tbs Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 tbs Fish Sauce
  • 1 tsp Soybean Sauce
  • 1 tsp of Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Soy Sauce (optional)

How To Make:

  • Step 1: Boil macaroni. Once the water has come to a boil, add 1/4 tsp. of salt and 1 tbs of olive oil. Then, add macaroni. Set timer for 10 - 15 minutes (depends on how soft you like your macaroni). Make sure you keep stirring it often to avoid burning at the bottom of the pot.
  • Step 2: Once macaroni is cooked, pour into a sieve and rinse with cold water immediately. Then, leave it aside to drain all water.
  • Step 3: Fry your eggs sunny side up.
  • Step 4: Make basil pork sauce. Use the leftover oil from fried egg. Add chopped garlic and chillies in hot oil. Fry until garlic turn yellow. Then, add minced pork. Stir it together and leave it. Next, add all spices. Once all added stir everything well and taste.
  • Step 5: After you like the taste, add boiled macaroni in the sauce and stir to mix sauce and macaroni together. Then, add Thai basil leaves. Stir with the heat quickly, turn off the stove.
  • Step 6: Put macaroni Thai basil pork on the plate or blow and add fired egg on top.
