HEALTH BOOSTING DRINKS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC


While the whole world is facing Covid-19 pandemic since 2020 till now, we lost a massive number of human life. 

Now humanity gone through a big change, we are now in the 'new normal' our lifestyle has changed to include masks and alcohol sprays as default. Not just that we still need to be survive in some way by taking care of yourself as best as you can to stay away from the infection.

As we do not have a vaccine that cures 100%, we just need to do our best to improve or maintain body immune system for fighting with the coronavirus. Here are health boosting drinks, that contains herbs that increase your immune system. Easy and quick to make by using currently available ingredients in your home, and of course, it's Delish!!


3 herbs that can boost your immune system

Turmeric

The vivid yellow-orange herb called 'turmeric' or well known as 'curcumin'. It is a common ingredient in India, South East Asia and Middle East. A simple herb with wonderful benefits and several compounds that benefits your health. Some of these benefits include anti-inflammatory, boost the immune system, high in antioxidants, help prevent cancer, help prevent Alzheimer's disease, heart disease and lower cholesterol.

Some of you might wonder how much you can take?

We must always keep this in mind - Too much of everything is bad, even the good thing. Each person is different. For me, I always make sure that I consume no more than 2 tsp a day. Those who have a serious health condition should consult with their doctor first.

Matcha Green Tea

For hundreds of years 'green tea' is a common drink for Chinese and Japanese people. Nowadays, green tea is more popular around the world. Matcha is green tea in powder form. Due to the way it is process matcha is stronger than regular green tea in a tea bag.

Matcha green tea contains high nutritional value that improve your health; such as anti-inflammatory, protect kidney and liver, high in antioxidants, help prevent cancer, heart disease, lower cholesterol, low blood pressure, and even keep you alert and focus.

Matcha green tea also contains 'caffeine', make sure you do not overdo it!

Lemon

A simple ingredient in your kitchen but the benefits are great. Lemon is a good source of vitamins C, vitamin B6, potassium and folate. There are tons of boosting benefits; improve immune system, keep you hydrated, improve diet, help aid digestion, weight loss, anti-inflammatory, reduce cancer chance and heart disease.

As lemon contains high citric acid, please be careful on the consumption amount especially in people who have gastritis condition.

Iced Matcha Lemon

Normally, I drink iced matcha lemon throughout the day. It is refreshing especially during hot day or sometimes when you feel tired especially if working from home. The sourness of lemon can wake you up.

Iced Matcha Lemon made with only 4 simple ingredients; matcha powder, fresh lemon juice or slice, drinking water and ice cubes. It takes only 3 minutes to do. Perfect drink for grab and go even when you are on the rush.

Ingredients

  • drinking water
  • 2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 slices of lemon

How to make:

  • Add 2 tsp matcha power in the jar. Usually, I make this drink in a big jar or flask (500ml.). The amount can be adjusted by your preference but I like mine strong.
  • Add drinking water in the jar. Make sure you leave some space for adding ice cubes
  • Add 1 tbsp lemon juice and a sliced of lemon. You can put either or both, depends on how sour you prefer.
  • Last but not least, add a few ice cubes
  • Then, stir it well and now it is ready to serve

Turmeric Latte

This is my favorite breakfast at all time. To me the perfect drink to start your day. It is warm and full of health boosting ingredients that increase your immune system.

Ingredients

  • 350ml. milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp  honey
  • 2 slices of ginger 
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp coconut blossom sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ghee (optional)

How to make:

  • Boil milk with gentle heat and keep stirring to avoid burning at the bottom of the pot.
  • Once the milk get warm, now start to add the rest of the ingredients. 
  • Feel free to add the ingredients in whatever order. I usually add sweetener first, then add powder ingredients after.
  • Stir it well and turn off stove.
  • Pour in your favorite mug, sprinkle a dash of cinnamon and ground black pepper. It's ready to serve.

Turmeric Shot (Super Booster)

The ultimate booster is the most concentrate drink compared to two previous drinks. I normally take the shot when I feel exhausted or the day that you need extra energy. This drink might not be suitable for people who have gastritis problem as the drink contains the ingredient that have high level acid.

Please make sure you do not drink when you have an empty stomach or dilute warm water to reduce acid level.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lemon or whole lime
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • a pinch of pink (Himalaya) salt
  • a pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp of warm water (optional)

How to make:

  • Add all dry ingredients in shot glass
  • Squeeze lemon juice in shot glass
  • Add 1 tsp of honey and 1 tbsp of warm water
  • Mix it well and ready to take a shot
